Stuffed apples are a typical dessert in the Empordà region which are at their best during the August and September festivals.
In Vilabertran, it has been traditional to eat cooking apples in the interval during the dance at the festivals for centuries. Many people in the region travelled expressly to the village of Vilabertran to enjoy this exquisite dessert.
The village of Vilabertran inherited this tradition and has managed to maintain it and now transmits this knowledge to new generations thanks to the fair that is held every year in mid-September.
