Viewpoint of the Vall del Riu

Discover the Mirador de la Vall del Riu, a viewpoint oriented to the south that offers stunning views of the Vall de Riu Major, the sanctuary of Mare de Déu del Mont, and Can Damon. It also allows observation of cliffs and typical vegetation formations of the area, such as red pine forests and holm oaks. This viewpoint showcases the landscape of Alta Garrotxa, which is predominantly mountainous and covered by a dense and thick forest layer.

Most of the hermitages in the area are characterized by great simplicity, framed within popular Romanesque, with semicircular apses and belfries with bell gables. A good example is the sanctuary of Mare de Déu del Mont. The complex geomorphology of the region translates into folds and faults that determine the existence of narrow and rugged valleys and steep slopes with considerable scree.

Open spaces like grazing areas or cultivated fields break the monotony of the wooded surface and reduce the risk of fires. In this environment, you can find farmhouses, small Romanesque bridges, and military constructions from past eras. Explore the richness of the landscape from the Mirador de la Vall del Riu.
