The Museum of the Empordà offers the public a historical reading of its collections, which cover a wide chronological range of the art and archeology of the region, from prehistoric times to the present, with a special dedication.

Mir, Francesc Masriera, Joaquim Sunyer, Frederic Marès, Josep Dunyach and Pere Casanovas, among others, can follow the trajectory of Catalan art from the mid-nineteenth century to modernism and the first avant-garde, with works by Antoni Tàpies, Joan Ponç and Modest Cuixart.

Finally, Ramon Reig, Josep Bonaterra, Marià Llavanera, Eusebi de Puig, Salvador Dalí, Àngels Santos Torroella, Àngel Planells, Joan Massanet, Evarist Vallès, Joan Sibecas, Ramon Molons, Joan Padern, Ramon Go up Olboira, Lluís Roura and Josep Ministral, among many others, show the evolution of Empordà’s painting from the realistic landscape, the surrealism, the conceptual abstraction and the new figuration. The museum also projects several temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
