We can take the bus from Roses to Almadrava. Timetable: Winter: 9:20h,12:20h, 15:20h, 19:20h Summer: (at the end of June): Each hour from 9:00h a.m
The route starts at the Roses Tourist Information Office, which is located on the town’s promenade. There you can catch the regular line bus that takes you to Almadrava beach, from where you start walking. Once you get there, go down to the beach. Continue to the left until you see the signs for the “camí de ronda” coastal path. Climb the steps and follow the yellow “Itinerànnia” markers until you come to the end of the housing estate. From here you take a path on the right that runs alongside the coast in the direction of Montjoi cove. Continue along this path through an area of scrubland with pine trees and the breathtaking scenery of Cap de Creus. Next follow the coatal path towards Cadaqués and after about 40 minutes you will come to the viewpoint at Lledó cove. Continue along the path to the right of the viewpoint and then through pine woods until you arrive at an excellent nudist beach. Stay on this path heading towards Murtra cove, which you pass and continue on to Montjoi cove. There you will see a vertical signpost reading AE144 – Platja de Cala Montjoi (Montjoi cove beach) at which point you should follow the direction of Roses (2,5 hours). Go uphill following the brook, skirt round the holiday centre, cross the road and continue down the dirt track that heads further inland. After passing through an area with olive, almond and pine trees, you will see a turning on the left. Continue along this path in the direction of Roses over the Fragam pass and then climb up to the ridge through an area of Mediterranean scrubland. Once you get to the crest, follow the “Pla de Gates” plan along a wide track, without straying off until you get there, and look out for the AE146 – Pla de Gates signpost.
Carry on towards Roses (1 hour and 5 minutes) and the “Cap de l’Home” dolmen. Next go down the path andand after approximately 250 m, you will see a turning that leads you to a visit of the Rec de la Quarentena I and II cave-dolmens. Follow the path and after about 15 minutes you will see a turning on the left that leads to the Casa Cremada standing stone (menhir), located about 40 metres from the road. You can take a detour to see this and then pick up the route once more afterwards. Continue along the path that goes through quite dense scrubland areas following the direction of Roses and the “Cap de l’Home” dolmen. Then take the “Cap de l’home” “carrerada” (cattle track) down to the “Els Grecs” housing development, enjoying a fantastic view over the bay of Roses as you descend.
Once you get to the “Els Grecs” housing development, you will see a path on the left which leads to the “Llit de la Generala” and the “Cap de l’Home” dolmens. From there, go down to the housing development until you come to the promenade, where you will see the AE148 – Port de Roses vertical signpost. Continue in the direction of Pau until you arrive once again at the Roses Tourist Information Office, right next to “La Ciutadella” (Citadel).
