During this walk along the itineraries of the Albera Natural Area, you will enjoy images and useful information to be able to prepare the most appropriate route and that you like or attract the most attention.
Currently, a total of eleven routes have been published, divided into two themes: Megalithic monuments and Requesens.
The itinerary begins where the C. Sant Climent joins the C / Requesens in the municipality of Cantallops where we can leave the car. From here we will follow the signs of the itinerary on foot. Along the way we will go up a path to the entrance of the place where we will find the three dolmens of Medàs. Then we pass the metal fence of the track and close it again. Following the directions of the itinerary you can see the dolmen of the Banya de Saus and the views of the Castle of Requesens. Finally we will arrive at the Requesens canteen.
Route 2. Around the Castle. Route to discover the proto-industrial elements of Requesens.
The Itinerary begins at the parking lot of the Cantina de Requesens where we can leave the car. From here we will follow the signs on the itinerary on foot. Along the way we will find as many as 9 proto-industrial elements, from a lock that led water to a small hydroelectric power station, to an ice well. All these constructions are currently in disuse The itinerary is in the middle of the Albera Natural Area of National Interest, where we will find closed forests of oak, oak and chestnut.
Itinerary 3. Faig de la Pedra Route to get to know the Monumental Tree of the Natural Place of Albera. The Itinerary begins at the parking lot of the Cantina de Requesens where we can leave the car. From here we will follow the signs on the itinerary on foot. We will follow the forest track where we have come to a detour with a fence (motor vehicles prohibited) and we will follow the closed track.
The route has a shortcut to make it easier, where we will save about 2 km. In case of doing the whole itinerary we will continue along the track until we reach a detour on the left where we will find the “Font de la Formatgeria”. From here we will go downhill until we reach the Faig de la Pedra.
Finally, we will follow the signs until we return to the starting point.
Itinerary 4 Faig de la Pedra Route. Megalithic route through the Natural Interest Area of the Estany de la Jonquera.
The route starts at La Jonquera-Cantallops road (GI-601), we will find a straight line where there is a detour for a forest track to the left and another to the right. We can leave the car in this detour, as it has a landing as a parking lot. From here we will follow the signs of the itinerary on foot. Along the way we will find up to 7 megalithic monuments, 3 dolmens and 4 menhirs. We can also find a series of ponds and temporary ponds of great ecological interest.
