The Farinera situates on the ancient mill in the middle of the village, one of the three flour mills of the mediaeval villa of Castelló d’Empúries. Its current appearance, remarkable building of three plants, and the machinery that houses are the result of the process of industrialisation that around 1860 supposed the technical and constructive transformation of the ancient mill, turning into a factory, that 90 years afterwards renewed a part of its machinery.
The visit to the Farinera offers you a route by the manufacturing spaces, that will allow you to discover diverse thematic appearances: the step of the mill to a factory, the complex productive process of the transformation of the wheat in flour from the system Austro-Hungarian, the source of energy that does to work whole factory and the essential characteristics of the prime matter and of the products that obtain.
The warmth of the wooden structures of melis, flandes and Galician pine, the visual and aesthetic impact of the group, the cleaning of the factory and the authenticity of that that sees , do that ours was a singular collection.
