Sweet “butifarra” sausage is a very particular product, and without a doubt, very specific to Empordà. Sweet “butifarra” sausage can be eaten dry, although it is much tastier when eaten cooked and accompanied with apple.
Sweet “butifarra” sausage has a high percentage of calorific components and normally it is eaten in winter. However, this depends very much on one’s taste and palate. Empordà butchers prepare this sausage all year round.
It can be eaten for dessert or accompanied with “requesón” cheese as a snack. In the past, it was eaten mid-afternoon with bread and apple.
