The essence of Empordà gastronomy lies in the excellent quality and robust personality of its local products, largely the result of the unique and intrinsic combination of “sea and mountain” in the territory.

This strategic enclave, coupled with proximity to France and the gastronomic revolution of nouvelle cuisine française, gave rise to the avant-garde culinary movement in Catalonia, particularly in the Empordà region, with establishments such as Hotel Duran, El Motel Hotel Empordà, El Bulli, or the restaurant Mas Pau.

One of the star products of this land is undoubtedly the wines from the Empordà Designation of Origin (DO Empordà), whose Regulatory Council is based in Figueres, the capital of Empordà.
