This municipality includes the villages of Arenys d’Empordà, Ermadàs, Tonyà and Vilajoan.
Some of the important sights include the Romanesque church of Sant Miquel (12th-13th century) in Garrigàs; the castle, which was built during the 14th and 15th centuries with later alterations, and the church of Sant Sadurní, which is Romanesque with later parts (11th century), in Arenys d’Empordà; the Castell, a large rectangular building from the 14th-15th century, and the 10th-11th century Romanesque church of Santa Maria (1093), with a horseshoe barrel-vaulted nave in Vilajoan; the chapel of Santa Llúcia (17th-18th century) in Tonyà; and the 10th-11th century Romanesque church of Santa Maria with a single nave and a semicircular apse in Ermadàs.
