Sant Andreu Church

Borrassà’s “Sancti Anreae” is mentioned in a document from 817. It should be a Romanesque church, on which the current one was built between 1684 and 1765 according to the inscriptions on the façade. It took 12 years to build the high bell tower — it only took 28 to 30 days to make each of the stones at the base of the pilasters. It became a barracks during the Great War (1793-1795). Outside are the remains of a section of wall of an old castle, reused to build the church, with several loopholes.
