The program of the International Colloquium Walter Benjamin, 2017 will take place on September 28, 29, 30 and 8 October in Girona and Portbou. The symposium is organized by the Càtedra Walter Benjamin of the University of Girona and the Museu Memorial de l’Exili, in collaboration with ICIP (Institut Català Internacional per la Pau) and the Memorial Democràtic of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the EUROM (European Observatory on Memories) of the University of Barcelona, and the University of Perpignan Via Domitia.

“Intellectuals and commitments in contemporary times. Onde hundred years after the October Revolution » is the topic to be discussed during this interdisciplinary and comprehensive conference which aims are to highlight the transformations of the figure of the intellectual in the light, firstly, of the impact of the Soviet Revolution throughout most of the 20th century and, secondly, the inherent complexity of the globalised world. Amelia Valcárcel (Universitat de Oviedo), Enzo Traverso (Cornell University), Emmanuel Faye (Université de Rouen) ou Ferran Gallego (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) are among an extensive list of speakers.
In addition, on Sunday, October 8, the walking trail from Banyuls to Portbou will be organized. It is a project by Nau Coclea which will also include an artistic intervention.
