The origins of the Hotel Duran’s restaurant date back to 1827 when, as written records show, the establishment was a house where meals were served, and later on, transformed into an inn where travellers could rest. Finally, when the establishment was already in hands of the Duran family, it became a restaurant of recognised gastronomic prestige. This journey through history is reflected in the hotel’s classic style decoration that includes hand-blown glass artisan lamps from Mallorca, as well as Catalan style polychrome chairs, the “Llevantinas”.
A cuisine with traditional products of the highest quality from l’Empordà is served in a completely relaxed and pleasant environment in the centre of Figueres. Not in vain, this restaurant was Salvador Dalí’s favourite and nowadays, it keeps alive the artist’s favourite spot, Ca la Teta. For this reason, the restaurant is part of the Dalinian tourist circuit of Figueres.
Book in one of the most prestigious establishments around the area. Hotel Duran’s restaurant opened its doors in 1855, and now, being completely refurbished, is one of the classics of the region that cannot be missed.
Located at the heart of Figueres, it offers its diners a market cuisine from l’Empordà based on seasonal products: meals and game change according to each season, but products such as rice, fish and shellfish of the region are always present in the menu. Moreover, in this broad menu, which is in constant evolution, the diner can find meals to share as well as a wide range of gluten-free options. The bread service also deserves a special mention, as it is the best artisan bread in the area, Terrades bread, and is served in sliced loaves preserving its centenary tradition.
We also recommend their desserts, making special mention of the Suzette crepes that are elaborated in front of the diners so as to serve them to their taste.
For more private celebrations, book in Dalí’s favourite dining room: El Celler de Ca la Teta. This antique space dates back to 1855 and it is exceptional as it is preserved in its original state. It is made out of wood and stone, and filled with the best pictures of events and personalities with whom the artist enjoyed his meals.
The restaurant offers a daily menu with a very competitive price and opens from Monday to Sunday from 12.45 to 16.00 and from 20.30 to 23.00. Moreover, guests have available a free car park situated near the restaurant (under arrangement).
